Tuesday Topic: DREAM BIG: MONICA & DAVID

For those of you who haven’t seen this film, it’s a must. Monica & David is a 2009 HBO Documentary about a married couple, both with DS, that is incredibly well done. Realistic, hopeful, and loving. Married for 5 years or so, the couple is still going strong, traveling around the country on the speaker’s circuit. For instance, 3 weeks ago they were panelists on a talk at Miami Dade College in honor of National Disability Awareness Month. It looks like they keep a busy schedule.

I was initially hesitant to view it, thinking I might be disappointed. I was not! Eyes glued to screen. And, being a ballroom/Latin dancer myself, I was completely blown away at the end of the movie, watching Monica and David dance Salsa at a nightclub. Like, Dude, David can dance! Not only that, he leads his partner expertly (we dancers know what to look for.) I am in awe.

I highly recommend you give this 67-minute film a viewing! Here is the Netflix link for Monica & David.
