TUESDAY TOPIC: ALL ABOUT PERSONALITY
On Fridays, I post a Reading Blog; but Tuesday blogs are reserved for other Down syndrome topics and issues. Today is Personality Day!
“Personality is, thank God, one of the few things totally—and I mean totally—untouched by Down syndrome. Not only is it untouched, but it seems to be mysteriously enhanced, larger-than-life, and often makes the rest of us seem pale by comparison…That personality, those preferences and characteristics, are quite likely to be hilarious, exasperating, heart-melting, infuriating, and invariably moving in a way that is jaw-dropping.”
-from “Down Syndrome Parenting 101: Must-Have Advice for Making Your Life Easier”
This is an excerpt from one of my books, and if you’re a parent, you KNOW it’s true!
About this hilarious composite: “Daddy Rob” (as he is known to his daughter) posted this pic and said, “This is what happens when Alessandra gets her hands on my iPhone.” Alessandra was one of my reading students for several years, and I believe there are few humans on the planet with as much personality. Actually, there are probably plenty, and most of them have Down syndrome!
If you have a favorite picture of your child showing that larger-than-life personality, please send it to me at info@specialreads.com. I would love to post those pictures on my DS Reading FB page from time to time; it will brighten our days.
Still laughing,
