TUESDAY TOPIC: TIM’S PLACE–DREAM BIG!
Reading Fridays, Tuesday Topics!
This Friday’s blog will be about Reading as usual; but my Tuesday Topics blog launches today, and is open to other DS issues and interests. It’s hard to beat the inspiring story of Tim Harris and his Big Restaurant Dream, so here it is!
Tim’s Place
A few months ago, I visited my friend Julie in Albuquerque, NM. Two of Julie’s therapy clients are young men with Down syndrome, so Julie is in the “DS Loop” there. “Do you want to have lunch at Tim’s Place? Do you know about that restaurant?” she asked. I had heard about Tim’s Place. “Are you kidding? I wouldn’t miss that for anything!” So we went, met Tim, were serenaded by him, ate lunch (of course), and watched him “work the joint.” It was a totally fun time, especially since two young adults with DS were in our party and were old buddies of Tim’s.
His story is inspiring, and I urge you to watch this short video of Tim talking about his dream of having a restaurant, now realized. He walks you through his “restauranteur” day, and it’s beyond wonderful. Enjoy!
And oh, if you’re ever hungry and in Albuquerque, Tim’s Place is located at 8050 Academy, NE, Albluquerque NM 87111, and the phone number is (505) 856-1005.
